1. What is Laser Skirmish?
Laser Skirmish is a revolutionary new indoor and outdoor, team-based mission game. Each team member is equipped with an infrared laser and sensor headgear. Players shoot an invisible and harmless infrared beam. Teams are assigned missions to complete like “Deathmatch”, “Base Assault” or “Escort the VIP”. We have a variety of missions for every level and age of players; every mission provides gamers with new challenges as they grapple the concept of laser skirmish combat.
2. Who can play Laser Skirmish?
Anyone aged 8 and older, male or female - everyone can play to a level that they find comfortable! Laser mission simulations are great fun for the casual player and our structured strategy missions are designed to encourage working together as a team, leadership skills and effective communication. The ultimate mission game, combining role-play and problem-solving, guarantees an experience unlike any other. Please note that we have two types of gaming guns. The Scorpion model weights approximately 2 kg and the Commando weights approximately 3 kg.
3. How do the lasers function?
The laser system has been built around a safe, robust and reliable high-tech infrared mission system with lasers modeled on futuristic-type weapons. With an effective range of 100 meters (up to 160 meters for the steadiest hand), realistic digitized sounds and multiple modes of fire, this is technology with attitude!
4. What can I expect when a mission is being organized?
When we arrive at your location, you will be issued with a laser and hat with sensors attached to the laser. After an equipment & safety briefing, your referee will go through the various scenarios and games you will play. In some situations there may be an opportunity for you to choose your own game.
5. What should I wear?
Camouflage gear is best or dark clothes. If your location is dirty or in bushland we recommend clothing that you can get dirty. Believe us when we say we know just how carried away a player can get when they are in the heat of a live battlefield!
6. Are there any hidden costs after the session fee?
No! At the start of your game, your referee will load up your laser with enough lives to get you through your mission - these lives should last you for the duration of the mission. Unlike paintball where you pay for every shot you fire, in laser skirmish you only pay for the cost of the session.
7. How well do the Laser work indoors and at night?
The Lasers are made to work outside in bright sunlight and work the same indoors with lights or in a darkened area. The Lasers work great at night. Nighttime missions add a very different element to the game.
8. What do I need to provide when the event is at my location?
Nothing...everything needed to play is included in the price.
9. How long do the missions last?
The length of the missions will vary from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Several factors are considered when determining the mission time. The age of the players, the size of the field, the mission objective, the number of players that need to participate in the event and the weather conditions.
10. How do you know when you’re been hit?
Our equipment is designed to eliminate cheating. When you take a ‘hit’ the laser will sound ‘ouch’. Then once all lives have been used, the laser will display ‘done’ on the screen, which stops the laser from firing. Don’t worry... this does not mean you’re out of the game, lasers are re-activated but this registers as a ‘kill’ against your team... so survival is the key.
11. How do you know when you have hit somebody?
Again you will hear the ‘ouch’ sound from the player's laser. Another good technique is to look for sudden movement from the player. Often when a player is hit unexpectedly they will dive or duck for cover. When players are ‘out’ they must remove their hat to indicate that they have been eliminated.
12. How do you win the games?
Each mission has a different objective... but many are determined on ‘kill’ count - that’s the team who eliminates the most opposing players.
